About Me

My name is Sam and I am a Family and Systemic Psychotherapist with over 25 years experience working within Child & Adolescent Mental Health Services including eating disorder and crisis teams. I am also a Relate trained counsellor.

Special Interests

Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.

I have found the digital therapy works well with adults and older teenagers, I still prefer to see my younger clients face to face.
As a mother of three and grandparent of six I have personal experience of the challenges that parents can encounter across the lifecycle. My CAMHS career has provided me with the opportunity to support adolescents and their parents navigate a variety of complex Mental Health presentations including anxiety, depression, Self Harm and Eating Disorders. I have also worked extensively with parents of younger children around attachment, play and managing behaviours that challenge.
I have a particular interest in helping family members improve their communication and navigate lifecycle transitions such as divorce, bereavements and becoming a blended family,
I provide supervision to professionals from a wide range of disciplines and hold a CYP-IAPT PG Certificate in Supervising Evidenced Based Psychological Therapies
I have had the privilege of supporting many survivors of sexual violence and domestic abuse and always practice in a trauma informed way.
