My Approach

I work in an integrative way, drawing upon a range of theoretical models to create a therapy which meets your specific needs and experiences. Working in this manner I offer a compassionate space in which we can explore and work through the wide variety of difficulties that you may bring to therapy.

Areas that we might work with include: past and present experiences, values, beliefs, how you think and feel about yourself, others and the world around you.

By exploring these aspects of your self-narrative and experience, we may shed light on how and why you have come to be the way you are in the world. Developing greater understanding of how we are in the world helps us begin to make changes, transforming the difficulties into opportunities for self-discovery and growth, through which we may find a greater sense of freedom, agency and acceptance for ourselves, and the world we find ourselves in.

About Me

I offer a warm, kind and gentle approach, with a focus upon providing a safe, non-judgemental setting, so that we may build a strong therapeutic relationship, within which to work.

Availability: I have some availability for on-line video-call sessions via zoom, Monday - Wednesday evenings, 5 - 8pm . Please get in touch for specific times.

Special Interests

Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.

Anxiety is a core part of the human condition: when disproportionate, it can cause great distress. It is however an important part of our nature, thus, building a relationship with our anxiety and finding ways to be with, and draw upon it can open us up to greater depths of experience and living. I aim to work with anxiety from a multi-layered perspective. We can explore practical ways to manage disproportionate anxiety as it arises. In addition to this, we can explore the roots of your anxieties as set within your personal history to find a sense of meaning within your experiences. We can also consider anxiety from a philosophical perspective, to try and find ways of engaging with and reframing natural anxiety as part of the drive to find purpose and meaning within the larger interwoven contexts of Being.
I have a particular interest in working with people who experience themselves as being outsiders, and/or experience, and express themselves in ways beyond traditional societal-cultural-norms. I offer a space to explore and uncover a deeper sense of authentic identity, as well as an opportunity to consider how to creatively discover a space within the world that allows for connection, meaning and purpose.
I have found working on-line to be highly effective, allowing for many of the same ways of working as in-person therapy. Alongside talking through your issues, we may also make effective use of visualisation, mindfulness and body-awareness / somatic techniques, as well as drawing and other creative methods, where appropriate. There are added logistical benefits - being able to have therapy from home, or even from any private and safe location away from home, if travelling. This allows for greater continuity of sessions, where in-person session may be interrupted by travel for work or other reasons.
