My Approach

Many challenges in life may prompt you to consider psychotherapy. Issues such as pressure at work, relationship difficulties, significant life changes, or bereavement may be among the many challenges and complexities of life. In response to these challenges, you might find yourself experiencing anxiety, depression, stress and potentially find yourself struggling with low self-esteem or a lost sense of identity. Additional to these responses to life's challenges, feelings of isolation and difficulty in finding a sense of meaning and purpose can emerge. Equally you may want gain a greater understanding of yourself and your world. Therapy can offer you a space to feel heard, understood, and supported to process and navigate your experiences.
Taking an integrative approach to psychotherapy, I offer a safe and confidential space for you to explore and clarify your experiences, needs and aspirations. Working collaboratively, we can uncover a deeper understanding of old ways of being that no longer serve you, and explore new ways of being that may feel more helpful and empowering to you.
I offer a warm, safe, non-judgemental, and encouraging space in which we can build a strong therapeutic working relationship. Please send me an email if you would like to book a free 20 min zoom consultation so we can meet and see how we get on and discuss your therapeutic needs. I look forward to hearing from you.

Special Interests

Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.

Anxiety is a core part of the human condition. When disproportionate to what is generating the anxiety, it can cause great distress. It is however an important part of our nature, helping us be aware of danger and take action to protect ourselves. it can also be a powerful motivating force which helps us achieve our objectives in life. Building a relationship with our anxiety and finding ways to be with, and draw upon it can open us up to greater depths of experience and living. I aim to work with anxiety from a multi-layered perspective. We can explore practical ways to manage disproportionate anxiety as it arises. In addition to this, we can explore the roots of your anxieties as set within your personal history to find a sense of meaning within your experiences. We can also consider anxiety from a philosophical perspective, to try and find ways of engaging with and reframing natural anxiety as part of the drive to find purpose and meaning within the larger interwoven contexts of existence.
I have a particular interest in working with people who experience themselves as being outsiders, and/or experience, and express themselves in ways beyond traditional societal-cultural-norms. I offer a space to explore and uncover a deeper sense of authentic identity, as well as an opportunity to consider how to creatively discover a space within the world that allows for connection, meaning and purpose.
Working on-line allows for many of the same ways of working as in-person therapy. Alongside talking through your issues, we may also make effective use of visualisation, mindfulness and body-awareness / somatic techniques, as well as drawing and other creative methods, where appropriate. There are added logistical benefits - being able to have therapy from home, or even from any private and safe location away from home, if travelling. This allows for greater continuity of sessions, where in-person session may be interrupted by travel for work or other reasons.
