About Me

Breathing space, for you.
Hello, I’m Rob. I’m an integrative psychotherapist and provide both short- and long-term therapy. I completed a Masters degree in Core Process Psychotherapy, which is a mindfulness-based therapy. I wonder what brings you here, seeking support right now. There are many reasons why people seek out therapy. Our society can often feel like it isn’t set up to provide us with the emotional support that we often need. In fact, society can often feel like it is contributing to, or even causing our suffering. I would aim to provide you with a safe and compassionate space that can allow you to rest, and explore your thoughts and feelings from a calm and maybe more grounded place. Central to my approach is aligning more to the present moment, and supporting you also with this. Amongst other benefits, this may help to bring you into relationship with your feelings in a different, maybe closer way. By connecting with our emotions and feelings in our body, this may bring fresh insight; stepping into a new way of being and relating, and ultimately leading to change.
There are many areas of self, and of life, that I can support you with. However, here are a few of my areas of interest:

Self-esteem building, and emotional neglect

Relationship difficulties

Depression, anxiety

Childhood bullying

Hearing voices, and other marginalised aspects of self

Traumatic experiences

Working with men

Living with a chronic health condition

Grief, death and dying

If you would like to see how it feels to meet, and share a little about yourself, I offer initial sessions at the reduced rate of £55 for up to 45 minutes. Should you decide to book in beyond this, on-going sessions would be at the same time each week. If you would prefer to talk first on the phone, please do get in touch and we can arrange a time to hold a brief conversation (free of charge).

Experience.
As well as in private practice I have worked mainly in the NHS, in the field of physical health. This is where I first became familiar with chronic disease, and the field of mental health. These experiences, and a growing interest in Buddhist psychology, led me to my training in mindfulness-based psychotherapy. My own psychotherapeutic journey has instilled within me a deep sense of the importance of one’s own wellbeing, particularly in a world which can often feel unsafe, confusing, and overwhelming; cultivating and maintaining one’s own wellbeing, with dedication, can and does open up life to more possibilities, deeper connections, and authentic joy and happiness.

I have for the past 5 years worked for a Hospice, in the field of palliative care. This experience has given me a deeper insight into working with grief, bereavement, chronic and terminal illness, and dying. I currently work in private practice, in both London (Kings Cross/ Islington) and Brighton (central).
