I’m a Gestalt psychotherapist, ‘gestalt’ means ‘whole’ or ‘pattern’. You may come with a clear idea of what you want from therapy or need space to explore something that doesn’t feel right. I’ll work with you as a whole person with mind, body, emotions and spirit so we can get to the heart of the matter.
I aim to be warm, genuine and candid as we unravel knots and difficulties and find your strengths and resourcefulness. We’ll talk with curiosity to find more clarity and kindness to yourself. I may suggest other approaches that bring new understanding – perhaps a movement, a different sort of conversation, checking out the wisdom held in your body or softening the pain of past trauma respectfully. This is a shared enterprise where our relationship is a key source of insight and partnership, working collaboratively at a pace that feels right for you.
At the heart of our work is how you become more aware of the patterns in your life, those ways in which you’ve adapted to survive and thrive which may have served you well but can now keep you stuck. This awareness gives you a greater range of choice, freedom and new possibilities to take out into the world for greater fulfilment.
We all have the capacity to meet the world with more joy, I am here to help you face what is tough and hurtful and explore growth and excitement again.
Professional Experience
My Masters degree and Clinical Diploma in psychotherapy are underpinned by a long creative career in film and television, wide experience of working with people in organisations and twenty years supporting those who feel life is no longer worth living. These give me depth of empathy and a wide range of ways we can approach issues together.
Areas I work with include: anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, a strong inner critic, bullying, bereavement, recent and childhood trauma, addiction, stuck relationships, chronic pain and finding the meaning for you of an ADHD diagnosis. I am interested in the worries behind the professional exterior at work and in the deeper questions of identity and purpose that often come with age.
I see adults for short-term and long-term work in Central London and online. I welcome hearing from you by email or text so we can start to discuss where you are and what your hopes are now.
Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.
