I work with individuals, couples and families, including sibling groups, in person and online. If you contact me to inquire about therapy, I will arrange an initial discussion with you to think about why you are considering therapy and whether I might be able to help you. If you are contacting me as a couple, I will ask to meet with you and your partner together.
In our first meeting we would agree what we will talk about in our first few sessions together.
I have a flexible approach to my work, but always with a relational and relationship focus.
I think it is important for therapists to both acknowledge the impacts of distressing experiences on the people they meet with, and to support the development of a shared sense of hopefulness and optimism about the future.
In addition to working as an individual therapist, I also work in a partnership with trusted colleagues to offer services to individuals, couples and families where violence has occurred in relationships.
You can arrange to speak with me by emailing me at richard.mckenny@gmail.com.

I am a systemic psychotherapist and supervisor working with families and couples. I work with individuals, couples and families, including sibling groups. I completed my clinical training at the Tavistock Centre (London) in 2009. I have 20+ years of experience working in specialist and highly specialist mental health services, in the NHS and in the voluntary sector.
I currently offer supervision to psychotherapists working in a range of settings.
Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.
