I work systemically. Rather than looking for one person to blame or "fix", we look together at the patterns and relationships around a difficulty, so that every voice in the family is heard. My work is trauma-informed, and we go at a pace that feels manageable for you.
With families affected by drinking or drug use, I draw on CRAFT (Community Reinforcement and Family Training) alongside systemic practice. It focuses on you, the family member: how you respond, and looking after yourself as well as the person you're worried about.
We start with a free initial consultation: a chance to talk through what's happening, ask any questions, and see whether working together feels right. There's no pressure to commit.
When someone you love is drinking or using drugs, it can affect everyone in the family. You might be worried, exhausted, angry or unsure where to turn, and it can be hard to know what would help. You don't have to work it out alone.
I'm a UKCP-registered systemic and family psychotherapist, seeing families, couples and individuals at The Blossom Tree Clinic in Pinner and online. Before I trained as a psychotherapist, I spent over 15 years working with families affected by drinking and drug use, in the NHS, local authorities, prisons and charities. I trained at the Institute of Family Therapy, where I gained a Masters-level, UKCP-accredited professional qualification in family and systemic psychotherapy, including over 300 hours of live clinical supervision with families.
I work with parents worried about a son or daughter, partners of someone who drinks or uses drugs, adult children of alcoholics, and families in recovery. I also see couples, and families facing conflict, separation or the changes of a blended family.
Whatever has brought you here, you'll be met with warmth and without judgement.
Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.
