My Approach

I am a psychodynamic psychotherapist working with adults around intimate relationships, identity and repeating patterns. I have particular expertise in working with gifted and creative individuals who often carry more than their share while quietly struggling with anxiety, overwork or relational difficulties.

About Me

I use a combination of psychodynamic, attachment-based and Jungian approaches to help individuals think about their relationships.

Relationships are the most important and most difficult part of our lives. They can be where we feel most alive and creative — and also where we feel abandoned, over-responsible, jealous, ashamed or trapped in repeating patterns. If you are struggling with fears and anxieties around intimacy, or feel that despite everything you give something essential is not returned; if a recent break-up is keeping you hostage, or you struggle to trust closeness without losing yourself, it can help to have a safe space where these patterns are thought about rather than acted out. We can also explore issues with sexuality, sexual identity, recent or historical sexual abuse, affairs and betrayal.

The way we love as adults is often shaped by childhood experiences and traumas. Growing up as the responsible one, the sensitive one, or the gifted child in a family can leave deep traces. When emotional needs were overlooked, met inconsistently, or another sibling received most of the attention, self-blame, perfectionism, binge eating, shopping, overwork or withdrawal can become ways of coping. Understanding these early relational patterns can make it possible to change the most important relationship — the one with yourself.

Over the years, I have developed particular expertise in working with gifted and creative adults. Many of them appear capable, thoughtful and responsible, yet feel quietly exhausted by carrying more than their share. They may overwork, take on more than is reasonable, and still find themselves unseen or passed over. Or they may be successful in their careers and outward lives, yet struggle with anxiety, self-doubt, compulsive patterns or a persistent sense of being alone with their inner world. In intimate relationships they may feel unseen, over-responsible or caught in repeating patterns. With giftedness often comes intensity, imagination and high standards — but also vulnerability, self-criticism and sometimes ways of coping that are hard to admit to. Therapy offers a space where your complexity does not need to be simplified or fixed, but met and understood.

I completed a rigorous clinical training in Psychodynamic Psychotherapy at WPF Therapy. I also hold a Diploma in Jungian Psychotherapy with Adolescents and Young Adults from the Society of Analytical Psychology, and undertook Infant Observation within the same institution.
These experiences inform my understanding of how early emotional environments shape adult relationships, identity and ways of coping. My work is grounded in developmental thinking — not only in relation to chronological age, but in relation to the emotional states we carry into adulthood.
Alongside my clinical training, I hold a PhD in Cultural Anthropology. My doctoral work focused on culture, narrative and mythology, and this continues to inform my interest in how personal histories and wider cultural forces shape psychological life.
For the past seven years, I have worked as an Associate Counsellor at the Royal College of Art, supporting postgraduate students within an intensive creative environment. Over the years I have worked extensively with artists, academics and creative professionals from diverse backgrounds and nationalities.
