Gestalt Psychotherapy is a path to our self- embodied, creative, rational, emotional self. This is essentially an awareness practice. The invitation is to pay attention to the self, environment, thoughts, feelings and sensations. Over a period of time, you will grow your creativity to tolerate and accommodate various thoughts and feelings, both pleasant and unpleasant. Even the unbearable ones that cause you to seek therapy in the first place. You will then be in a position to make aware-ful choices about how you react and respond in varying situations.
I am particularly curious about our relationship to uncomfortable feelings and sensations such as rage, jealousy, anxiety or hatred. People sometimes discharge them in situations which leave them and/or others feeling guilty or regretful. I provide a safe space where these emotions can be expressed, in awareness, and in the service of growth. Equally, the space is open for exploring such enjoyable states as joy, love, excitement and triumph.
I am a UKCP registered individual and group psychotherapist with the Humanistic and Integrative Psychotherapy College. I graduated from the Gestalt Centre London in 2015 with a Master’s degree and diploma in group work. I worked in the National Health Service for 18 years as a mental health practitioner, most recently as the lead practitioner of a London Borough. Over these years, I have worked with people with a range of conditions such as depression, anxiety, psychosis, bipolar disorder, insomnia, eating disorders, relationship difficulties and post traumatic stress. I have a specialist interest in ancient philosophy - vedanta and advaita theory which informs my practice.
Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.
