Key to my approach, is fostering/building a relationship with you, that enables you to bring your ‘whole self’ to our work together. Many of us have parts of ourselves we hide because we don’t like them or want to change them. I will support you to understand and accept your different parts, so that you can have a better relationship with yourself, which will enable you to cope even more effectively with the ups and downs of life.
Experiencing stress, anxiety or depression (or any other mental health difficulties) can cause us to act in ways, which feel out of control and, together, we will explore how this affects you day to day. We will also uncover potential contributing factors, so that you can make changes over time, and feel calmer and more centered in yourself.
Sometimes our experiences are hard to put into words, so alongside traditional talking therapy, I work creatively to access those experiences for which it may be difficult to express through talking alone. This doesn’t require you to be artistic, it will just involve us doing some activities, that support you to explore your situation from different perspectives.
My interest in neuroscience, means that I understand how brains grow, develop and learn. In addition to this, my understanding of the body-brain connection means that I can work with you to recognise the physical effect your psychological experiences may be having on your body.
I offer a free initial half-hour telephone or video call, where we can explore your requirements. You will also have the chance to ask questions about my approach, so that we can decide whether we are the right fit for one another.
My name is Pippa, and I am an integrative psychotherapeutic counsellor with a particular interest in working with people who are experiencing any type of life change.
I have worked with people of all ages, in many different areas, including both the public and private sectors, and the NHS. My experience supports my knowledge and understanding of difference, and I am mindful of how our uniqueness can shape our experiences of the world and others.
