My Approach

I believe that you are the expert in yourself and that I am here to walk alongside you, bring with me my personal experience and theoretical knowledge. I always try to create a relationship of equals where we are both free to challenge, question and explore your inner world as safely as possible. There may be times when this is difficult and frustrating and others when it is joyful and liberating, but we go at your pace and depth.

Most of my work is medium to long-term but some clients find that short-term therapy is enough. I do not believe that therapy is a panacea and the work is yours. I hope that I can be of help in seeing and accepting you for who you are, and through greater awareness you can develop increased freedom to make the changes you want to and to accept that which is more fixed.

About Me

I am a humanistic integrative Psychotherapist and BACP Counsellor, incorporating attachment and development, the somatic experience, mindfulness and Gestalt. I have been working since 2020 in-person in Wales and online nationally and internationally.

My experience encompasses all relational difficulties, identity issues, bereavement and grief, addiction and dependency, chronic illness, anxiety and depression, understanding neurodivergence, sexual problems, self-esteem, and those who are seeking greater direction in life and increased vibrancy.

Special Interests

Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.

I have developed an understanding of the many different experiences of adult adoptees. For many the sense of rejection can be long-standing, regardless of how happy the adopting family may have been and whether contact with the birth family is regained. I work with clients to explore what adoption has meant for them and how it has formed who they are today. I am particularly versed in transracial adoption.
Who we are can often be defined by others. I work with my clients to help them understand what best fits for them in terms of their race, sexuality, gender, relationship status, age, social-demographic, purpose and values. This can be a long and evolving journey of discovery and acceptance.
Much of my work is online and I have received specific training in delivering online therapy and building a relationships over the screen. For some, this can be a challenging way of working but the convenience and flexibility can make online the best way to find the right therapist for you.
For me, race is a construct developed to exert power and control. Its impact on us all can be profound, particularly for those of us who are marginalised. I work with clients to explore how these forces have impacted them and to better understand their sense of who they are. I have particular experience working with mixed-heritage, bi-racial, mixed-race, multi-racial people.
I see trauma as a reaction to threat. The threat can take many forms and requires safety, trust and sensitivity to explore at the clients own pace, recognising the protective mechanisms we have put into place to survive. I have high regard to the felt sense, when we can still feel unsafe long after the actual danger has passed. By exploring our fractured self, I hope that clients will start to make better sense of what has happened to them and to find an easier way of being.
