My Approach

I want to hear your story - to celebrate each step of progress and honour the courage required to embark on the healing journey. My role is to accompany, encourage, and witness your transformation.
With TA, clients can develop practical skills for managing emotions, setting boundaries, and communicating effectively. Therapy has helped many of my clients respond to life’s challenges from a place of empowerment rather than fear.

I welcome women from all backgrounds and identities, and I am mindful of the personal, cultural and social factors that can shape trauma and healing. My practice is LGBTQ+ affirming and informed by a feminist perspective.

Women beginning therapy with me can expect:
• A warm, welcoming, and non-judgmental environment
• Practical tools for healing and empowerment
• Collaborative goal setting and tailored support
• Respect for privacy, confidentiality, and individual needs

About Me

I've worked supporting people who are going through difficult times for over 30 years, and I believe a supportive therapeutic relationship is the most important part of healing and growth. My experience is in both NHS and community mental health services, and I've specialised in working with people who have had traumatic or difficult childhoods.

I am a trauma informed psychotherapist, using Transactional Analysis (TA) to explore how our childhood experiences affect our personality, thoughts and feelings.

I work in a local centre for women who have experienced sexual violence, and have also worked with people who have experienced loss, bereavement, disabilities or health issues, and work related stress.

Special Interests

Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.

I have worked with older people and their carers for many years, and have personal experience of caring for older family members. I have worked supporting people with caring responsibilities, older people coming to the end of life, and dealing with the losses associated with later life. I have worked with people planning retirement and planning for lifestyle changes, and have specialist training on issues affecting older people.
I work with a trauma informed approach, and have specialist training in trauma associated with sexual violence and childhood abuse. I have many years experience of working with women with Complex PTSD. I am a qualified Rewind therapist, helping people who have experienced trauma, and have unwanted thoughts or memories / flashbacks connected with their trauma.
I work with women who have experienced childhood sexual abuse and sexual violence. I have completed specialist training in my work in a local Rape Crisis Centre, and love to see women find their strength and reclaim their power.
