My Approach

Part of my approach is humanistic and person-centered with the goal of helping my clients connect with their mental health and wellbeing in a non-judgmental and supportive way.

I offer play therapy, which creates a space to interact with our subconscious selves through imagination.

I also work with groups offering therapeutic art support and therapeutic story work in schools and for families at my practice.

I am trained in Cognitive Behavioural techniques for depression and PTSD, working in a more structured and directives way, depending on the needs of my clients.

About Me

I am an Educational Psychotherapist and I work with children, young people and their families. You may be wondering what Educational Psychotherapy is? It is a practice of psychotherapy that considers any barriers to learning a child or young person may be experiencing. These barriers are often linked to difficult or traumatic experiences such as bullying, bereavement, attachment disorders, family separation or divorce. As an Educational Psychotherapist I use different creative interventions that are suited to the individual child, so that they can continue to engage, and feel supported in, their learning journey.

I also offer sessions that explore different learning styles, working with your child to find the best way for them to revise and prepare for tests and exams. I offer these sessions for ages 12-16years of age.

I work with

  • Families
  • Groups
  • Individuals
  • Private healthcare referrals

Special Interests

Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.

Many children and adults experience bullying, whether this is at school, at work or in personal relationships. Bullying can have a big impact on our confidence and the way we see ourselves and others. I have worked with young people who have been bullied over the last few years and I've seen the healing that can take place when these experiences are shared and understood in a safe and well held therapeutic space.
Our place in the family, the role we play and the different systems of communication that exist without our conscious awareness can impact many areas of our life, work, how we manage our friendships and romantic relationships. Understanding our place in the family system can help us understand any patterns that have emerged in the way we communicate and move through life,
Mental health is something that ebbs and flows throughout or lives. Accessing a supportive and well held space where preoccupations can be explored and understood, can help move you through periods of distress.
Trauma can be experienced through a one off sudden life event or through a series of experiences over time. There are different ways to work with trauma, and my approach is always guided by the client.
