My Approach

My approach is interactive and relational. We will collaborate in finding answers and acquiring your desired results. Changes and improvements are usually experienced within sessions 1-3. As well as professional and thorough, I am down to earth, open and have a sense of humour. It is important to me that clients feel rapport and connection. I bring 30 years of experience, which means I am able to cut to the chase and often identify the root cause pretty quickly, with a wealth of tools to draw from.

About Me

Hi, I am a higher accredited Integrative psychotherapist, in clinical practice for 25 years. My work is based on best practice and clinical evidence. Previous experience has been within the NHS, public and private sector, psychiatric care, Director and Associate Professor of Psychotherapy at Regents University and in the field of addictions. I combine psychotherapy with coaching and professional debriefing as I find this gets the best results. I also include CBT, Mindfulness, Exposure Response Therapy, Somatic Body Approaches and Psychoeducation alongside key humanistic and psychodynamic theories. I work both short and long term (see my website for more detailed information); and I provide weekly/fortnightly sessions, as well as early morning/lunch time options. I am available via WPA, Aviva, BUPA Global, Cigna and AXA.

Special Interests

Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.

Gaining control of feelings and emotions is central to therapy, as part of developing Self Regulation on an ongoing basis.
We all have mental health difficulties or compulsions and these can relate to anything. It's when these difficulties get out of control, hinder our effectiveness, or simply keep recurring that we need help eliminating them. If we can't do something ourselves, not for want of trying, it is very natural and resourceful to find an expert to aid us.
Relationship problems are usually: communication breakdown, conflicts, trust issues, infidelity, difficulty forming and maintaining relationships. Issues can be within personal-intimate relationships, immediate and wider family, or career-workplace. Unfortunately, many problems have a Narcissistic component these days, so therapy helps navigate personality disorders.
Stress is a killer, so Stress Management is an essential skill to learn in dealing with life's challenges, preventing burnout and avoiding health related issues The aim is to achieve balance-fulfilment, know stress reduction techniques-strategies, have an embedded self-care practice, and experience emotional well-being.
Some clients come to therapy to fix a workplace situation and by default get promoted or re-define their careers, at the very least thriving and improved. When stuck in a toxic dynamic, it is helpful to hear an outside perspective and be provided with effective and clear strategies on how to progress and move forward.
