My Approach

I believe its important to meet each person where they are in the moment, and instead of having a fixed idea of what needs to change, explore what they are actually experiencing. I hold a compassionate curiousity that invites clients to feel safe in our relationship. We're all made up of many different parts of ourselves, often finding these different wants and needs conflicting with each other. I provide a space where we can separate these out, slowly learning to recognise the origins and needs of each aspect, and see how they all contribute to a persons experience.

I've found that meeting clients' experiences with a non-judgemental, compassionate and authentic interest, allows those parts that carry the pain of past trauma or neglect to heal and integrate with the whole person, leading to a new capacity for relationships with themself and others.

About Me

I'm an experienced and fully qualified psychotherapist working in person in Yeovil, and online. I offer weekly sessions, working with adults who are seeking a warm, holding space where they can be met with compassion and feel safe to explore what issues they might be experiencing.

Trained in Humanistic-Integrative Psychotherapy, I draw from a wide range of theories and research to offer different lens' through which we might understand why people feel the way they do, while giving space for simply experiencing those feelings.
I'm interested in what you bring, and also curious about what might not be able to be spoken about, recognising the importance of your autonomy and safety in choosing what you share.

Special Interests

Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.

I am fascinated by each persons unique experiencing of the world, and also how this contrasts more greatly between neurotypes. Informed by experience and research, I work with clients to understand how best to approach life with the way their mind works, whilst exploring what its like to live in a world that is often experienced as critical of their natural way of being.
I have previously worked as a Bereavement Counsellor and I have many years of experience in helping people work through the complex feelings that often arise when someone dies.
Those that live with chronic and unpredictable illnesses have a layered experience of themselves in mind and body. I beleive it's important for someone to have a space in which there is no expectation of wellness, where they can explore what it's like to be someone who is ill and how that intertwines with who they are beyond that. I have previously explored much of the research into ACEs (Adverse Childhood Experiences) and how developmental psychological experiences can lead to physiological illness in later life, as well as the psychological impact of energy limiting illnesses.
My recent research for my Masters degree was in the area of dissociation, and the fragmentation of the self that can occur when traumatic experiences are not recognised or validated. This research extended to how the therapeutic relationship can heal this fragmentation through creating relational safety, highlighting the importance of the therapists awareness of the clients process.
