My Approach

My approach is interactive and tailored to your individual needs, assisting you to find your own answers and to make the choices you may wish to make. Trained in person-centred psychotherapy I have a humanistic outlook and believe in your uniqueness. Sessions are in person and on Skype.
You can attend whether you are vaccinated against Covid-19 or any other disease or not vaccinated against anything. You can smoke outside of the premises, inside I thank you for not smoking.
My commitment to the profession entails attending and presenting at national and international conferences: Topics include: meaning in life, spiritual quest and well-being. E.g. regarding Covid I presented at three international conferences on issues relating to: anxiety, depression, family discord due to opposing views of situation. My emphasis is upon supporting you in what is best promoting your psychological, physical and spiritual well-being.
Part of my ongoing passion is to support you holistically, meaning: in addition to exploring your mind and attending to your emotions, we may discuss what could support your physical well-being - and how this affects your mental health. And if you wish we can go deep into spiritual explorations, assisting you with integrating some experiences you may have had, or making sense of a current life-situation from a perspective of your soul and spirit and your heart of hearts.

About Me

OVERVIEW ABOUT ME
I offer you a truly human-to-human therapeutic relationship, in a space of calm and inspiration. My confidential and fully insured service for your emotional, psychological and spiritual matters is available for individuals and couples.

EXPERIENCES - which can make a difference for you
You are in safe hands: I am highly qualified (Master Research achieved highest distinction) and very experienced - with over 25 years working in private practice, plus: training others at Universities and Colleges, as well as presenting nationally and internationally at conferences (Australia, Belgium, Greece, Italy, New Zealand, Netherlands, USA, internationally online: China, New Zealand and USA). I published some papers, been an editorial reviewer and I am currently approved provider for several medical healthcare insurances (e.g. Aviva, Cigna, PruHealth, WPA).

I regard both of us to be responsible for the therapeutic process. My way of working is grounded in the therapeutic philosophies of humanistic person-centred and transpersonal (spiritual) psychology. In addition I am experienced in CBT and we may utilise insights from the cognitive-behavioural perspective should this be appropriate for your particular situation.

ABOVE ALL:
I am human being and talk with you in a warm, sensitive and natural way. For me you are not a standard 'case', you are a unique person. I am here to help you, to access your own inner potential, to understand your life's lessons, to find your own answers and to help you experience deep contentment in living the life you know you could live.

Special Interests

Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.

Whether you or a loved one is addicted to drugs, alcohol, eating, gambling, shopping, … often we will explore the deeper layers of past pains and past joys, your meaning in life, the interplay between freedom and responsibility, love for self and others, …
Anxiety can have many reasons and range from mild worry to trauma related fear. It might be related to things you experienced or things you think about. Together we endeavour to make more sense of what is going on inside yourself. My holistic take on human nature can often make difference: e.g. we might look at some of your unhealthy habits, improve your breathing, …
At times you might not know why you are depressed, nor how to move beyond it. Others might have told you: ‘just get on with life’; ‘what’s your problem you have everything why feel sad’, … But you may know deep down it cuts much deeper: maybe you lost your meaning in life, maybe you lack resilience and feel worn out after years of challenging situations, … Whatever your unique situation is, firstly I listen deeply and even if together we can initially only light a candle in your darkness – that will already help you to see things clearer for you to continue your journey to greater well-being.
Relationship issues can have to do with your family, neighbour, work colleague or your spouse, boyfriend, girlfriend, … It might be about a conflict, it might be about a lack of respect and love and care. I used to teach counselling and communication skills at University and have found that understanding communication in a deeper way helps to speak in improved ways with each other – which contributes hugely to better relationships. Therapy for relationships can be about finding ways to untangle and separate, and it can also be about finding and practicing ways of being closer with each other.
Spiritual inquiry in our therapy sessions addresses topics such as: your spiritual path - e.g. Advaita Vedanta, Buddhist, Christian, Hindu, Jewish, Krishnamurti, Muslim, Pagan, Sufi, ...; your meaning in life, your soul purpose; integration of psychic abilities such as premonitions, seeing auras, psychic protection; ...
