My original training was in Rogerian person-centred counselling, and subsequently in integrative psychotherapy. I'm strongly influenced by buddhist teachings, Jung, and focusing (Gendlin). I'm very interested in dreams and image work.
Most important of all, however, is a respectful and warm relationship. Through ongoing therapeutic work and a deepening trust, it becomes possible for the client to come into closer and deeper relationship with her/himself. This has a directly positive influence on relationships with others, and a sense of enhanced flow in life altogether. Research in neuro-science has extensively validated the positive effects of immersion in this way of working therapeutically, on limbic regulation: an increase in confidence, wholeness, attachment, and well-being.
He / Him
I have been working as a therapist in private practice since 1988, in Bristol for 30 years, and now based in Stroud. I worked in a GP practrice as a counsellor, and supervised practitioners at a drug rehab centre. Before that I worked for a number of years in residential therapeutic communities with special needs children and adolescents, as well as creating gardens for these children, and growing medicinal herbs for the Bristol Clinic of Herbal Medicine.
Alongside this work I have been painting, drawing, writing, gardening and meditating. Working with my own dreams has been and continues to be a path of self-knowledge and inner guidance.
