My approach is relational, compassionate, and collaborative. I believe that meaningful change develops through a trusting therapeutic relationship, where together we can explore difficult experiences, recognise strengths, and discover new ways of moving forward.
I am a UKCP-registered psychotherapist, Associate Professor in Counselling and Psychotherapy at the University of Leeds, and Director of the Sagi Shalom Counselling Clinic. For more than 25 years, I have worked with adults, couples, children, and families.
My therapeutic approach is relational and integrative, drawing on psychodrama, attachment theory, humanistic psychotherapy, and contemporary relational thinking. I have a particular interest in working with trauma, anxiety, depression, eating disorders, obesity, ADHD, relationship difficulties, identity, and life transitions. Alongside psychotherapy, I provide clinical supervision and ADHD assessments.
Alongside my clinical work, I lead the professional training of counsellors and psychotherapists at the University of Leeds. I am passionate about supporting practitioners to develop not only their knowledge and skills but also their capacity to work with curiosity, compassion, and authenticity.
I believe that therapy is not about having all the answers, but about creating a relationship in which people feel safe enough to explore difficult experiences, make sense of their lives, and discover new possibilities. My aim is to offer a warm, thoughtful, and collaborative space where clients feel heard without judgement and supported to create meaningful and lasting change.
Alongside my clinical and academic roles, I remain committed to contributing to the wider psychotherapy profession through supervision, research, leadership, and the development of future generations of psychotherapists.
Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.
