My Approach

Transactional Analysis offers different pathways, and my own approach is rooted in psychoanalytic and psychodynamic theory, which form the foundations of TA. I value TA’s strong psychodynamic lineage, particularly its focus on unconscious processes, early relational experiences, and how personality develops through our history and relationships.
I place particular importance on attachment theory and developmental perspectives, recognising that secure relationships are essential human needs and that early disruptions can have a lasting impact. In therapy, I provide a safe and supportive environment where clients can increase self awareness, explore unconscious processes, and begin to reconnect with parts of themselves that may feel hidden or split off. This process helps repair developmental ruptures and allows new, more fulfilling relational experiences to be internalised.
As a trained Dynamic Interpersonal Therapist (DIT), I also support clients in identifying and understanding recurring relational patterns that may contribute to distress, which complements TA by focusing on the interpersonal context of difficulties. It helps clients make sense of how past experiences shape current relationships and self perceptions, while offering practical ways to develop healthier, more resilient patterns of relating.
By combining TA, psychodynamic perspectives, attachment theory, and DIT, my approach attends to both the here and now dynamics of the therapeutic relationship and the deeper historical roots of difficulties. This integrative stance allows clients to gain insight into the origins of their struggles, while also creating new, meaningful experiences that foster growth, resilience, and a fuller sense of self.
