Psychotherapy provides the space to think about yourself and your life. Difficulties
can arise out of relationships, from beliefs and attitudes, and because of the
attitudes embedded in our culture and society. Through a shared exploration you
may find relief from recurring difficulties, understand how past experiences or worries about the future are causing difficulties in your life. This understanding
can help you start to make changes and help you to feel more in control.
I offer both short-term solution-focused counselling and longer term,
more in-depth psychotherapy. We can discuss what might be mostappropriate for you when you first get in touch.
My approach is integrative and I draw upon a range of theories and models that best supports the growth and change processes. I prioritise establishing a safe, trusting, mutually respectful and collaborative alliance in which we can together
explore whatever issues have contributed to your
decision to seek therapy at this time.
In addition I specialise in trauma focused therapy and am able to offer
eye movement desensitisation and reprocessing (EMDR) to help
process traumatic past events
I am warm, down to earth and approachable as well as experienced, professional and ethical therapist. I trained at Metanoia Institute and qualified with an MSc in Clinical Integrative Psychotherapy. Metanoia Institute is one of the most highly recognised training institutes in the UK.
Alongside my practice, I work of the NHS, working with people who have experienced traumatic life events.
In addition I have worked for the Helen Bamber Foundation, a charity which supports survivors of torture and other human right’s violations.
In addition, I am a qualified Art Therapist and Horticultural Therapist. I worked for the NHS using horticulture and gardening therapeutically to help alleviate symptoms of trauma.
Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.
