My Approach

My therapeutic approach is integrative, which means I am trained in a number of therapeutic approaches which allow me to consider the difficulties of my clients through a number of lenses - the end result of which is to facilitate your personal awareness, wholeness and growth and alleviate your mental anguish.

About Me

I am both a Chartered Psychologist and Psychotherapist with in excess of 20 years experience in supporting people with mental health challenges. I have worked at Relate, within the NHS and still work for Bupa part time as a Psychologist/Psychotherapist. I also have qualifications to work with couples and further training as a psychosexual psychotherapist.

I work with

  • Couples
  • Individuals
  • Private healthcare referrals

Special Interests

Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.

Experiencing difficult feelings is challenging. How we understand, manage and tolerate them either enhances or undermines our sense of well being. Our work together will be to explore them so that you become less afraid of them...
I have a particular interest in relationship and sexual difficulties because the way in which we interact with others and understand ourselves as individuals has a lot to do with how we experience ourselves in the world. What I mean is that our sense of self is created interpersonally (or relationally) within our earliest relationships. Therefore the nature of these experiences tend to shape the lenses through which we understand ourselves and interact with others - and therefore profoundly affects our sense of well being. Our work together will involve using me to become familiar with these lenses so that you get a sense of how they colour your lived experience.
Sexuality, gender, sex are integral to one's sense of self. Therefore, my approach to dealing with sexual difficulties is to get a sense of how we came to understand ourselves in our earliest relationships and the subsequent anxieties and adaptions we used to take care of ourselves in those sometimes overwhelming situations.
