I am an experienced psychotherapist working with adults both online and in person. I offer a safe, non-judgemental space to talk and explore a wide range of emotional problems including anxiety, depression and relationship issues.
My approach is client led with the client bringing whatever they like to the session whether it be a fully formed issue, momentary irritation or long-term distress. It is a process of exploration with the client feeling understood and supported to discover a greater awareness of themselves and their behaviour.
In psychotherapy this may mean uncovering the cause of current distress lies in our past, perhaps a link that the client is previously unaware of but gives a new level of insight, a new way to think about feelings and behaviour. As a psychotherapist I believe exploring early years and relationship patterns gives clients a fresh view on themselves and their lives.
It can be a difficult and at times a painful process but one that is not done alone as your therapist I am there to support and make you feel safe throughout your therapy.
The therapeutic relationship is vital to the process, with that in mind I offer an initial consultation that is slightly longer than a regular fifty-minute session ranging from an hour to an hour and a half to make sure the client and I are the right therapeutic fit for each other.
The initial consultation is arranged in a brief phone call that is made by myself to the client once they have first made contact, this is to get a sense of presenting problem and discuss availability. If we agree to work together sessions are weekly usually the same time and day. I offer evening and daytime sessions, weekday only.
As a psychotherapist I believe that the roots to our struggles today lies in our past and by gaining a deeper understanding of this, insight can be achieved that can trigger change, hope and new ways of being.
