I am an experienced family and couples therapist working with adults, adolescents, couples and families who are experiencing distress in their relationships or emotional lives.
My work focuses on helping people reconnect, improve communication, work through misunderstandings, and develop new ways of relating when patterns have become difficult or stuck.
My professional career spans over 20 years in the NHS, including more than 12 years as a family therapist working across a range of mental health settings. My experience includes both specialist and general mental health work, supporting people with a broad range of emotional and relational difficulties.
Alongside my clinical work, I also supervise other therapists in both NHS and independent practice settings.
I offer therapy online and by phone where appropriate.
At the heart of my therapeutic work is the understanding that our closest relationships shape our emotional wellbeing in powerful ways. Whether I am working with an individual, a couple or a family, I pay close attention to patterns of communication, the meanings people make of their experiences, and the ways relationships can become strained, stuck or disconnected.
I offer a thoughtful and supportive space in which people can reflect on what is happening in their lives and relationships, deepen their understanding, and begin to find new ways forward. This may involve improving communication, working through conflict, strengthening important relationships, or making sense of difficulties that have become hard to manage alone.
I work with adults, adolescents, couples and families experiencing a range of emotional, relational and psychological difficulties. My approach is rooted in systemic and relational thinking, with a particular interest in how people are affected by the relationships and contexts in which they live.
I also offer parent-focused work where a young person may be struggling but is not able, ready or willing to engage directly in therapy. In these situations, therapy can help parents and carers think more clearly about what may be happening, strengthen their responses, and develop more effective ways of supporting their child, including helping with emotional co-regulation.
I offer a free 15-minute phone consultation so that we can think together about what you are looking for and whether I may be the right person to help.
Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.
