My Approach

I work in an empathic, supportive, emotionally engaged way seeking to help you become stronger at your broken places. I focus on moment to moment tracking of what is arising emotionally, physically and cognitively and I will be curious about your deeper experiences that underlie your thoughts and behaviours as this will be the way through for change and healing. For example, when your mind turns to negative thinking maybe what you’re feeling is hurt and sad and I will help you become more self-compassionate so that you are able to acknowledge these feelings without judgement. It is a journey of self-discovery that we engage in together and I will support you to reflect on and understand yourself better.

I work relationally, emotionally and experientially and so I will be interested in your emotions, your past and present experiences, and on your experiences in therapy. This will not only increase your self-awareness and psychological well-being but will also enable you to manage your emotions, relationships and life’s challenges in healthier ways.

About Me

Hello, I am a Chartered Psychologist and Integrative Psychotherapist which means that I use evidence from research in psychology, neuroscience, psychotherapy and counselling to inform my work. I am also a certified AEDP (Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychoththerapy) therapist.

Being integrative means that I can adapt my knowledge and expertise to work flexibly with each individual in a holistic way that best suits each person. I can offer you an experience of being deeply listened to and understood within a warm and secure space in comfortable surroundings – a place where you can bring your problems, feelings and thoughts.

Our first session is an assessment session where we find out whether we like each other and feel able to work with each other. It is at this session that we can agree whether to work short-term (6 weeks) or longer-term. If we agree to work together then we organise sessions at the same time on the same day of each week that fit in with both of our schedules. I work collaboratively and relationally so that you also can have a say in the process and I am happy to answer any questions that you might have about the therapeutic process.

We will work to understand the root of your depression and transform your deep sadness. We will also develop new ways for you to relate to yourself differently
Together we will address your problems, understanding why they have developed and how we can relieve their symptoms
We will work together in a relational way to understand what is going on for you in relationships on emotional and psychological levels and discover ways of doing it differently
We will work together in a relational way to understand your trauma in physical, emotional and psychological levels so that it can be integrated healthily
