As an integrative counsellor my training included integrating concepts from different theoretical schools of counselling, the main theories I draw from are psychodynamic and existential. I consider that the issues we may currently face in life and the way we make sense of our experiences, include the context of our earlier experiences and relationships. Within counselling we may explore the way we think, feel, behave and make meaning of our experience within the non-judgemental therapeutic relationship. Through counselling we can become more aware of ourselves, which can provide us with more choice in how we respond to life's challenges in the future, as well as impacting the way we think and feel.
I am an Integrative psychotherapeutic counsellor working with individuals over 18. Prior to qualifying as a counsellor I worked in supported living services and GP surgeries working with individuals who had mental health issues and autism. I have a particular interest in working with shame and how it impacts our relationships. I currently have availability Thursday evenings and Friday afternoons.
