I am a UKCP registered Humanistic and Existential Psychotherapist with a professional background spanning psychotherapy, community psychology, mental health and education.
Alongside my private practice, I work as a Service Manager for Mental Health and Emotional Wellbeing in Education, leading services that support children, young people, families and education settings. My wider professional experience has given me a deep appreciation of the relationship between our individual experiences, the people around us and the wider social systems that shape our lives.
My background in community psychology also influences how I understand emotional wellbeing. I recognise that our difficulties do not exist in isolation, but are often connected to our relationships, experiences, environments and the expectations placed upon us.
I bring this broader understanding into my therapeutic work, alongside a genuine curiosity about each person's unique experiences. I believe therapy should offer a space where you feel heard, understood and accepted, without judgement or pressure to be anything other than yourself.
I understand that reaching out for therapy can feel daunting, particularly when you may not yet have the words to explain what you are experiencing. You do not need to arrive with everything figured out. We can begin wherever you are.
My approach to psychotherapy is grounded in Humanistic and Existential principles, which means I see you as a whole person rather than a collection of symptoms, difficulties or diagnoses.
I believe that our experiences are shaped by the relationships we have, the environments we live in and the meanings we make of what happens to us. Therapy offers an opportunity to explore these experiences, develop a deeper understanding of yourself and consider how you might want to move forward.
I work relationally and collaboratively, placing the therapeutic relationship at the heart of our work together. Rather than offering advice or telling you what you should do, I aim to create a supportive and reflective space where we can explore your thoughts, feelings, relationships and experiences at a pace that feels right for you.
My existential approach means I am particularly interested in the challenges that come with being human, including identity, relationships, loss, uncertainty, change, freedom, responsibility and finding meaning in our lives. At times, we can find ourselves feeling disconnected from who we are, questioning our choices or struggling to navigate significant life transitions.
I also recognise the influence of wider social and cultural expectations on how we experience ourselves and our relationships. My background in community psychology informs this perspective, helping me remain curious about both your personal experiences and the wider circumstances that may be contributing to your difficulties.
I do not believe there is a single way to experience or make sense of life, and I won't assume that I know what is best for you. Instead, we will work together to explore what matters to you, make sense of your experiences and develop greater awareness of the possibilities and choices available to you.
