My Approach

I am a Humanistic and Gestalt psychotherapist. I am also an insomnia coach (CBT-i advanced practitioner).

About Me

I offer therapy in London in EC4A and EC2A, and on Zoom.

I offer humanistic and Gestalt psychotherapy. I also offer cognitive behavioural therapy for insomnia (CBT-i).

Humanistic and Gestalt therapy:
I support people to live more meaningful and satisfying lives, by developing compassion and acceptance in their relationships to themselves and other people. This tends to include working through painful / traumatic things from the past, developing robust coping strategies in the present, and untangling negative narratives you may hold about yourself (or have been fed about yourself by the world around you).

What will therapy be like with me?
In our initial sessions we will explore what brings you to therapy and what you hope to gain. This helps us establish shared understanding of where to focus, and what to prioritise. You might have a really clear idea of what you want, or you might not be sure - perhaps something doesn't feel right and you want space to explore things.

I won't tell you what to do; and I won't 'fix' you either. I will meet you with honesty, non-judgement, and open-mindedness, in a confidential, safe and comfortable space. I will be genuinely curious in who you are, how you came to be this way, what is troubling you, and what brings your life hope and meaning.

I strongly believe that all behaviours are there to meet a need; I don't consider it self-supportive to label parts of yourself as 'bad' or 'shameful'. I will help you to be more compassionate and less self-critical, to be curious about how you came to be this way (and how it may have helped you manage a hostile or unsupportive environment).

I embrace working with intersectionality, in the hope that no discussions or subjects are taboo. My intention is to offer an open-hearted, safe and reflective space that allows you to explore who you are, how you experience yourself in relation to the world around you, and what makes you thrive.

My psychotherapy training is in Gestalt, with its rich foundations in Zen Buddhism, existentialism, and embodiment (i.e. seeing the mind and body as parts of the same whole). I also draw on other approaches including CBT; Mindfulness; developmental theory (exploring how things you experienced in infancy may still be affecting your relationships in the present) and inviting you to consider how systemic and other inequalities might be influencing the distress you feel.

As well as traditional talking-therapy, I welcome expressive ways of working. This includes drawing, crayons, sculpture, body movement, role play, the use of music - the possibilities are endless.

Insomnia support:
I offer CBT-i for insomnia, which means I can help you to fall asleep faster, have fewer problematic night awakenings, and to feel more refreshed and well-rested during the daytime, without the use of medication or pharmaceuticals. I follow the CBT-i model researched and practiced at the SCNi (Sleep and Circadian Neuroscience Institute, Oxford University), where I trained. I am under supervisory consultation with Donn Posner, Clinical Associate Professor at Stanford University School of Medicine. CBT-i is the gold standard, treatment of choice according to NICE guidelines and within the NHS for long and short-term insomnias.
