My Approach

I practise from a person-centred and integrative perspective, working at a pace that feels appropriate for each client. My approach is informed by trauma-aware practice and a strong emphasis on emotional safety, boundaries, and relational understanding.

I support clients to make sense of their experiences, particularly where these have involved toxic, controlling, or narcissistic dynamics. Therapy is collaborative and reflective, focusing on increasing self-awareness, resilience, and the ability to make choices that feel aligned and sustainable.

About Me

I am a UKCP-registered psychotherapist based in the Midlands, offering both in-person therapy in Mansfield and online therapy to adults across the UK. I work with people experiencing anxiety, low mood, trauma, self-esteem issues, and relationship difficulties, including the impact of long-term emotional strain and harmful relationship patterns.

My work is grounded, relational, and collaborative. I aim to provide a safe, respectful space where clients can explore their experiences, understand the patterns shaping their lives, and develop greater clarity, confidence, and self-trust.

Special Interests

Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.

I work with individuals experiencing anxiety and low mood, often where these are understood as responses to deeper emotional, relational, or developmental experiences, rather than isolated conditions to be managed in themselves. Many clients I support have lived for long periods in emotionally unsafe environments or relationships, where their needs were not met, heard, or respected. From a person-centred perspective, anxiety and depression are often meaningful signals that something within the person’s life or history requires attention. My work focuses on helping clients gently explore and make sense of the underlying experiences, patterns, and internalised beliefs that contribute to feelings of anxiousness, low mood, or emotional overwhelm. Therapy offers a space to reconnect with emotional needs, restore a sense of agency, and develop greater self-understanding and self-compassion. Rather than working to suppress symptoms, the focus is on supporting clients to feel more grounded, freer, and more able to live in ways that feel authentic and sustainable.
I work with individuals experiencing depression or persistent low mood, often where this has developed as a response to long-term emotional strain, unmet needs, or relational experiences that have left the person feeling disconnected, powerless, or diminished. Depression is frequently understood in my work not as a standalone condition, but as a meaningful response to what a person has lived through. From a person-centred perspective, low mood can reflect experiences of loss, chronic invalidation, relational trauma, or a prolonged absence of emotional safety or agency. Therapy offers a space to explore these underlying experiences with care and compassion, rather than focusing solely on managing symptoms. The work supports clients to reconnect with themselves, restore a sense of meaning and vitality, and gradually loosen the grip of depressive patterns by understanding what has been held inside or pushed aside. The aim is not to pathologise, but to help clients move towards greater emotional freedom, self-understanding, and choice.
I specialise in supporting individuals who are trying to make sense of and recover from toxic, abusive, or narcissistic relationship dynamics. This work is not limited to romantic relationships and may include experiences within families, childhood environments, friendships, workplaces, or other significant relational contexts. Many people come to therapy feeling confused, self-doubting, or emotionally depleted after prolonged exposure to controlling, manipulative, or emotionally harmful dynamics. I support clients to understand how these patterns develop, recognise their impact, and begin to rebuild a stronger sense of self, including confidence, boundaries, and trust in their own perceptions. My work focuses on helping individuals process their experiences, reduce trauma responses, and develop healthier ways of relating to themselves and others. I do not offer couples counselling; instead, I work one-to-one with individuals who want a safe, reflective space to explore relational experiences and move towards greater clarity, stability, and autonomy.
I work with individuals who have experienced relational trauma, often arising from prolonged exposure to emotionally unsafe, abusive, or controlling relationships. This may include trauma rooted in childhood experiences, family environments, intimate relationships, workplaces, or other relational contexts where power, safety, or emotional needs were consistently compromised. Relational trauma can lead to ongoing anxiety, emotional dysregulation, hypervigilance, dissociation, shame, and difficulties with trust, boundaries, and self-worth. My work supports clients to understand how these responses developed, stabilise the nervous system, and process traumatic experiences in a way that feels paced, contained, and safe. This work is undertaken one-to-one, with a strong emphasis on emotional safety, grounding, and rebuilding a sense of internal stability and agency. The focus is not on re-traumatisation or rapid exposure, but on supporting clients to regain a sense of coherence, resilience, and choice in their lives and relationships.
