My Approach

My main training was at the Gestalt Centre, London. but I am also informed by Person Centred, Psychodynamic and Transpersonal theories and practice. I enjoy creative ways of working, for instance using art materials and sandtray.

About Me

I have worked for over 30 years in the psychotherapy/counselling field as a practitioner, supervisor and trainer. I am a BACP Snr Accredited Counsellor and UKCP Registered Gestalt Psychotherapist.

Special Interests

Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.

I have had a connection over many years with my local hospice, mainly in my role as a supervisor. In the course of a 30 year practice, I have worked with many bereaved clients.
In my experience, family, both family of origin and current family life, is a central factor in most clients' presenting problems. issues almost always arise in the work.
Relationships, of whatever kind (intimate, familial, neighbourly, friendly, workplace) often form the heart of what troubles clients. Exploration of these, as well as exploration of the here and now relationship with the therapist, can shed light on repeated patterns, and especially where these are unhelpful, with a view to possible change.
I have many years experience as a supervisor and trainer and this is a part of my working life which I find especially rewarding and creative.
For about 20 years I worked for various EAPs, where presenting issues were varied, but often were linked to workplace conflicts, stresses and frustrations.
