About Me

I am a friendly, professional registered Integrative Psychotherapist, working with Adults, Children and Young people face to face and online.
I work with a wide range of emotional and mental health issues and pride myself on being approachable, effective and trustworthy.
My experience includes working within the NHS, the education sector, charities and private practice. I have managed services across the North East and am a BPS accredited supervisor.

My background is in Psychology, whilst I am passionate about research and best practice in the field, I am a warm, approachable practitioner who is able to put prospective clients at ease.
I understand how daunting it can be coming to see a therapist for the first time- and how overwhelming the choice can be. From the first call through all of our sessions you will be made to feel comfortable and at ease. I believe the relationship is the most important part of our work together, I love sharing knowledge from the field of mental health and believe that our clients should be empowered and supported in applying theory to real life.

At the first contact, I will take some information from you - this will be treated confidentially, we will then think about how we can work together and set some goals that you would like to achieve.
The first session allows you to ask more questions about how I work and psychotherapy in general. I always ask new clients to have a think after the first session and make sure I feel like the right fit for them. It can be reassuring to know that many clients find the first steps to making contact daunting, often keeping issues to themselves or or pushing through their distress. Once contact is made and you realise you are in safe hands , things can often start to feel easier.

Types of Therapy

There are many different types of therapy available. As an integrative practitioner. I am trained in the following therapies:

Psychodynamic therapy
Transactional Analysis

Whilst finding the right type of therapy is important, research repeatedly shows that the practitioner and the relationship you have with them, is a key part of the process.

I like to tell prospective clients that most therapists come to their roles because they have had their own difficulties or have experienced those around them struggling. As a standard part of psychotherapy training, we receive our own therapy. This means we know what it's like to sit in the other chair as a client and can use this to make sure you feel as supported and welcome as possible.

Its important to explore the different types of therapists available to you- and its not uncommon for a client to have a first session with a number of therapists to get a good fit. I really welcome that, after all this is about supporting you. If you want to see some of my work to get a feel for me in person, please visit my website where there are videos and podcasts available to listen to or watch.

Whoever you do decide to go with, I wish you all the very best, good mental health is something we all deserve to posses.

Take good care
