I operate within both private practice and multidisciplinary teams, collaborating on specialist projects and services to deliver tailored, effective support.
My therapeutic approach is eclectic, drawing from a range of evidence-based modalities, including:
Systemic and Family Therapy: Structural, Narrative, and Solution-Focused approaches
Non-Violent Resistance (NVR): Techniques to address challenging behaviours within families
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing): Evidence-based therapy for trauma and emotional regulation
My commitment is to create a safe, empathetic, and collaborative space where clients can explore their challenges, build resilience, and foster positive change. Whether working with individuals, couples, or families, I aim to support you in understanding relational dynamics and empowering you toward healthier, more fulfilling relationships.
Welcome! I am Kenyah Nyameche, a UKCP-registered Family and Systemic Psychotherapist with over two decades of experience supporting individuals, couples, families, and organisations. I qualified from the prestigious Institute of Psychiatry, King's College London, in 2002.
Throughout my career, I have developed a deep understanding of the complex dynamics that influence psychological well-being within family systems and communities. My areas of particular interest and expertise include:
The vital role of fathers in caring for their ill children
The therapeutic use of dolls and play in understanding and working with children
Hair therapy as a form of emotional expression and healing
Issues of equality and diversity, promoting inclusivity and cultural sensitivity
The psychological aspects of disability, both visible and invisible, and their impact on individuals and families
Psychological well-being in the workplace and organisational contexts
Working with young people, couples, and families facing challenges such as bullying, child-on-parent violence, and identity issues
Family rehabilitation following social care placements
Cultural assimilation and navigating cultural identity
In addition to my clinical work, I have extensive experience in safeguarding practices relevant to mental health, employment, and academic settings. I have contributed to workshops on safeguarding, emphasising the importance of holistic, relational, and trauma-informed strategies to protect vulnerable individuals and promote safety across various environments. My work in safeguarding underscores the importance of collaboration, ethical practice, and ongoing risk assessment to ensure the safety and well-being of children, vulnerable adults, and families.
Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.
