My Approach

My core training is in Humanistic and Integrative Psychotherapy. This means I don't believe that one type of therapy suits everyone. I draw on different therapeutic approaches and tailor our work to you, your experiences and what you would like to change.

Therapy can provide an opportunity to understand how past experiences may be affecting the way you feel, think and relate to others now. We can also look at difficulties in the present and explore different ways of responding to them.

I am also trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing), a therapy recommended by NICE for PTSD. EMDR can help people process traumatic or distressing experiences that continue to affect them in the present.

I work collaboratively and at a pace that feels manageable for you. An important part of therapy is developing a relationship in which you feel safe enough to talk openly and explore things that may have been difficult to understand or discuss elsewhere.

About Me

I am a UKCP registered psychotherapist offering individual psychotherapy and EMDR in Bath and online. I combine private practice with a senior role in an NHS psychotherapy service, and bring many years of clinical experience to my work.

People come to therapy for many different reasons. You may be struggling with anxiety, low mood, relationships or family difficulties, bereavement, trauma or a significant change in your life. Sometimes there isn't one obvious problem, but life has become difficult to navigate or you have noticed patterns that you would like to understand and change.

I offer a warm, supportive and non-judgemental space where we can explore what is happening for you and work towards greater understanding and lasting change.

I have particular experience of working with people affected by chronic illness and long-term health conditions, as well as trauma and difficult or distressing life experiences.

I offer both shorter-term focused therapy and longer-term psychotherapy. Sessions are usually weekly and take place at the same time each week. Face-to-face sessions are held in Weston, Bath, where free parking is available, and I also offer online therapy.

Special Interests

Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.

Anxiety can affect many areas of life and may not always have an obvious cause. Therapy can help us understand what may be underlying your anxiety, recognise patterns that maintain it and develop different ways of responding.
Bereavement and loss can affect us in many different ways and there is no right way to grieve. I offer a supportive space to explore your experience of loss and the impact it may be having on your life, relationships and sense of self.
I have particular professional experience in this area through my NHS psychotherapy work. I understand the psychological impact of living with illness, receiving a diagnosis, changes in health and managing a long-term condition.
I have training in EMDR and work with people who have experienced trauma or distressing events which continue to affect them in the present. This may include a single traumatic event or difficult experiences occurring over a longer period of time.
Relationship difficulties can involve partners, family members, friendships or recurring patterns in relationships. Therapy can provide a space to understand these patterns and explore how past experiences may be influencing relationships in the present.
