My Approach

My approach is to help you understand childhood experiences which may have caused behavioural patterns which you consider destructive. Once we have established and identified these behavioural patterns we will talk thought how you may be able to change these patterns.

About Me

I am an integrative therapist who has been working in the field of psychotherapy for over twenty years. I initially worked as a social worker for 5 years and then for a bereavement counselling service for 10 years. I trained as a psychotherapist at Regents College School of Psychotherapy and Counselling. After qualifying with a MA in psychotherapy and counselling I worked in the NHS as a therapist for fifteen years. After leaving the NHS I set up my private practice. I also work as a supervisor of voluntary counsellors at a domestic abuse organisation.

Special Interests

Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.

I worked in a bereavement counselling service for 15 years. Bereavement and loss can trigger difficult emotions and therapy can help to understand the grieving process. It can be helpful to share feelings of grief and loss with someone in a confidential and caring environment.
During therapy we will talk about feelings and triggers and together we will consider lifestyle changes which will help manage your depression. Symptoms include feelings of hopelessness, low self esteem and not enjoying activities which were previously enjoyed. Depression has many causes and it is important to understand what may be causing your depression.
Separation and divorce is a process which can be very stressful and can raise many uncomfortable feelings. It is a loss on many levels and these confusing and difficult feelings can be addressed in the confidential counselling space.
I am interested in cross cultural experiences and differences and how these may affect relationships, interactions and loss of self esteem. Sharing and understanding feelings is important in an environment where you are unconditionally accepted for who you are.
