My Approach

My approach is psychodynamic psychotherapy. This is way of exploring current issues and challenges and how you are experiencing them.
Psychotherapy can offer a safe and confidential space to think together about past relationships and events that may be shaping your present .

About Me

I am a qualified and accredited psychodynamic psychotherapist.
I can offer face to face therapy and online psychotherapy. Sessions are 50 minutes and weekly. It is important that both client and therapist feel that they can work together and a starting point of finding this out is by an initial consultation to talk about the things that have led you to seeking therapy. It is also an opportunity for you to consider if psychotherapy is the right approach for you and whether short term or a long term is the most suitable option.
Before qualifying as a therapist I worked for many years as a healthcare professional in the NHS specialising in Long Term health conditions. I believe understanding the connection with mind and body is essential to work with when in physical and/or mental distress.
I also work for an organisation as a bereavement counsellor. How endings and loss of many kinds can affect us is incorporated in my all of my work as a therapist.

Special Interests

Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.

How anxiety can express it physically and psychologically is central to my work. Dealing with everyday anxiety and more extreme panic attacks can affect relationships, social and work life and can be a cause of isolation.
I have specialist training and experience in working with people who need support with bereavement. Each individual's experience of loss and grief will be unique and influenced by previous loss in their lives. Grief can take many forms such as relationships and employment as well as death.
Depression can go unrecognised and manifest itself in many different ways. Working with clients who have been on long term medication and seeking more support is of particularly interest for me.
I have experience in working with individuals who are living with a chronic health condition. Exploring the impacts of physical ill health on mental and social well being with a holistic approach can be helpful
