My Approach

I offer systemic and family therapy which is aimed at people who seek to make sense of their difficulties by exploring their generational stories, cultural context and personal experiences to bring an awareness to how these might have played out in their life transition stages, as well as in their relationship to others

About Me

I have extensive experience in Adult Mental Health within the NHS where I worked as a systemic and family psychotherapist until I set up my online private practice. Being an immigrant myself, I am particularly sensitive to difference and diversity and how that can play out in society.
My therapeutic stance is collaborative and the focus and length of therapy is a conversation that I have with my clients.
I provide therapy both in English and Turkish.

I work with

  • Couples
  • Families
  • Individuals
  • Private healthcare referrals

Special Interests

Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.

Couples often experience difficulties as they carry some of their relationship patterns from their family of origin into their couple relationships. As a systemic therapist my role would be to identify patterns and link them to family of origin which would create a different perspective on what might be going on.
We give meaning to the interactions we have with people around us through our understanding of the world which is rooted in our culture. The cultural values we hold might be very different to the people we are in relationship with which can create difficulties. As a systemic therapist, my role would be to explore the relationship in the cultural context.
Identity defines how a person relates to her or himself. It is multifaceted and contextual factors determine which one comes into the forefront. It is fluid and changes through the life stages. Systemic therapy explores how identity impacts on relationships and also challenges problematic narratives around identity such as a " mentally il person" as opposed to someone having " mental health difficulties".
People can experience mental health issues as way of expressing " the unsaid". As a systemic therapist my role would be to explore and and understand the context of the person to give meaning to the mental health symptoms. I would also focus on how the symptoms are impacting on the relationships.
I offer online systemic therapy to individuals , couples and families with adult children, and siblings who might be living in different locations.
