My Approach

I am a systemic psychotherapist, working with individuals, couples and families. In systemic therapy we pay attention to the relationships that shape and give meaning to our lives: relationships with significant people, with life events, with our cultures and beliefs and with important aspects of our identities, such as gender, 'race', age, religion, sexuality and socio-economic position.
People usually seek therapy when they are facing challenges or dilemmas in their lives and want to make sense of what they are experiencing and to find ways forward. Some people prefer to meet with me on their own and some like to work as a couple, with family members or with other significant people in their lives. Couples and families often choose systemic therapy when there are difficulties in their relationships, but partners, families and friends can also be a useful resource when exploring issues faced by an individual.
As a systemic therapist I am usually quite active in conversations with clients, asking questions intended to help the person or people think about their situation in new ways. I offer sessions of 60 or 90 minutes. The frequency of appointments and the length of therapy is flexible according to the needs and wishes of each client.
