My Approach

My practice has developed towards an integrative-pluralistic focus on the individual. I am trained in CBT and Psychodynamic practice with a focus on how early experiences continue to shape our behaviours in the present. In practice, as I hear your story, I am able to offer links that may allow us to pause and reflect on why the struggle is more difficult now, and explore with curiosity how we may target change towards your goals.

About Me

I have been practicing as an integrative psychotherapist for more than 20 years, working with both complex mental health presentations and individuals who are struggling in some way. In addition to my private practice, I am a part-time lecturer at a London University training new MA and Practitioner Doctorate students. I have a strong commitment to the discipline and practice of psychotherapy and to this end continue my own development alongside my work.

Special Interests

Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.

Developmentally and in our natural progression through life, we are often confronted by challenging conceptualisations of ourself along the way. I have worked with young adults and adolescents successfully and welcome the challenges of age related issues. However I do not work with children or infants.
Recognising that anxiety is often at the heart of our mental health struggles is significant as while this can cause extreme discomfort and fear, anxiety is also something that we can manage and adapt so that we are able to bring awareness and self-compassion into how we respond to these feelings.
Developing our identity and the many ways that this manifests can underpin how we feel in our moment to moment engagement with our self and with others. I have a strong object relations background that seeks to understand how our identity has been and continues to be shaped by our environment and interpersonal relationships.
I have supervised trainee counsellors since 2009, and find that while I am able to support them in their work, it is often me who learns so much from the many clinical presentations that are brought into the room.
