I am an experienced psychotherapist and work with adults who feel out of balance in some way and want to work through what is going on. This may include feeling anxious, depressed, having relationship difficulties, suffering single or multiple incident trauma including post traumatic stress, struggling with eating, sexuality, or feeling obsessed by something and needing to control aspects of life to feel safe. I am trained in talking therapy, body therapy (somatic experiencing), trauma therapy (EMDR), and energy psychotherapy (AIT) and have a deep and ongoing interest in the spirit and soul in the therapy room, and in life. I offer Clinical Supervision to Therapists in training and in practice. My standard fees are £70 per session and £50 if in training. Concessions can be available, so do ask. I am available weekdays, Saturdays and some evenings and offer sessions in Stamford and over the web.
What happens in session
We will explore together what is going on for you, identify areas you want to work with and agree how we will work together. This can mean exploring things that happened to you in the past to understand how they are affecting you now. When these have been traumatic these can be held in your body, and we can work with your mind and body to release or reduce their impact on you now.
Training and Experience
I trained in Integrative Psychotherapy at the Minster Centre in London and have experience working in Private Practice, the NHS and a University Counselling Service.
Since graduating I have continued to explore ways of working holistically with head, heart, body, and soul, and increasingly focussing on trauma as an underlying feature of much discord in life. I have trained in Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), which is an approach to working with Trauma recommended by the National Institue of Clinical Excellence (NICE). I have also trained in an Energy Psychotherapy called Advanced Integrative Therapy (see http://advancedintegrativetherapyuk.co.uk/) which I find to be a very effective and gentle way of working with deeply held issues to offer lasting healing. During training, and in my practice, I have become more and more open to Spirituality and continue to explore how this presents itself in the therapy room, working with faith, and non faith based, approaches to this.
Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.
