My Approach

As an Integrative Psychotherapist, I draw upon different modalities to best support the individual. This includes aspects of Gestalt, Psychodynamic and CBT (including some third-wave CBT or compassion-focused therapy) approaches. The therapeutic relationship is always integral to how I work, including not just building an empathetic and trusting relationship, but drawing on relational aspects of our work together to help you better understand yourself and your difficulties elsewhere.

About Me

I can offer a warm, empathetic and compassionate environment for us to explore your troubles, and what might be underlying these. I am passionate about mental health and seeing the whole person, as well as the importance of hope, empowerment and finding your own sense of identity and/or meaning in recovery. As an Integrative Psychotherapist, I draw on a range of theories to work in a way that best suits your needs. I can work with a range of presenting issues such as anxiety, depression, body image and bereavement, with the aim of helping you make sense of your experiences and cope with an often difficult world.
The therapeutic relationship is integral to how I work, and I may draw onthe relationship between us to better understand what's going on for you psychologically, alongside what might be happening in your relationships outside therapy. I can also help you explore different ways of coping with the world and, where appropriate, new perspectives.
Reaching out is hard sometimes, and it can take courage to just consider therapy, never mind open up. And so, I offer both short-term and long-term support, so we can go at your pace. I also offer both online and face-to-face sessions in Birmingham. I've worked with neurodivergent individuals, grief, trauma history, and various mental health issues. Although I can work with a range of difficulties, I have particular interest in working with body image and self-esteem, as well as LGBTQIA+ individuals in an affirming way.
