I’m a BACP-registered and UKCP-accredited psychotherapeutic counsellor offering both short- and long-term therapy for adults (18+). My approach is grounded in Transactional Analysis (TA), which focuses on helping you understand yourself and your relationships at a deeper level so you can create lasting change.
While my core modality is Transactional Analysis, I work integratively, drawing from existential, person-centred, Gestalt, compassion-focused, and solution-focused approaches. This means your therapy is tailored to you, to your pace, your goals, and your unique way of experiencing the world.
In our sessions, the relationship between us will form the foundation of the work we do together. My role is to offer a safe, compassionate, and non-judgmental space where all your feelings are welcome, even the ones you’ve had to push aside just to get through the day. Together, we’ll explore not only what’s happening for you right now, but also the experiences and patterns that may be shaping your present struggles.
If you’ve tried CBT or other structured therapies before, this may feel quite different. Our sessions will be more open and exploratory, sometimes challenging at first, but often deeply rewarding as you begin to find your own voice and uncover what truly matters to you. Many clients describe this process as finally having space to breathe, reflect, and reconnect with themselves.
I have been in practice since 2020. My training included counselling within a GP surgery in Newcastle, where I supported adults facing a range of issues, including anxiety, depression, separation and divorce, life transitions, caring responsibilities, menopause, childhood abuse, and bereavement. More recently, I have worked in a university setting offering both single-session and brief six-session therapy.
Before becoming a counsellor, I spent 15 years working in the criminal justice system and 10 years in dispute resolution within higher education. These roles gave me deep insight into the pressures people face in demanding environments, and the resilience it takes to keep going when things feel overwhelming. I have particular experience and interest in working with:
- Neurodiversity (ADHD and autism)
- Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs)
- Bereavement by suicide
- Academic distress
- Work-related stress and burnout
- Vicarious or secondary trauma
I’m also passionate about the impact of technology on wellbeing, the connection between body and mind, and the way nature can help us return to our true selves.
I am currently offering in-person sessions on a Saturday, in a beautiful space in Gosforth. If you are someone who likes the cosy containment of a traditional counselling room, this is provide, alongside a studio space for those of you who would benefit from getting up and stretching or moving during a session. I am also offering online sessions on Microsoft Teams.
