I offer individual counselling and psychotherapy, short-term or long-term. As a psychologist, I believe all human beings are unique, with a body, mind, and spirit; all human lives are precious and exceptional. Therapy is a space where your unique journey is respected and understood, allowing you to share and have your feelings heard and understood. Together, we will explore your true self and bring your challenges to the fore, imagining and creating a life where you are not only surviving but thriving.
Today, we know that brain structures are being built and altered thanks to experience. Psychotherapy can be more effective when based on a neuropsychological approach. The knowledge about the brain is continually enriched, which leads to updating of the therapeutic approaches. Neuropsychological studies prove that cognition is a crucial element linking brain functioning and behaviour. The new evidence on brain functioning necessitates the integration of neuropsychological achievements in the psychotherapeutic process. An integrative approach considers the dynamic interaction between brain functioning, psyche, soul, spirit, social interaction, and neuroplasticity. This is neuro-psychologically informed psychotherapy.
Dr Iwona Scollard is a registered Counselling Psychologist with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and a chartered member of the British Psychological Society (BPS).
She is also a UKCP Registered Integrative Psychotherapist and a Clinical and Research Supervisor.
Dr Scollard works across a range of mental health settings, serving as a Counselling Psychologist at the Priory, the NHS, and in private practice. In addition to her clinical work, she is a senior lecturer at the Metanoia Institute.
Dr Scollard provides supervision to other practitioners. Most commonly, this would be one-to-one, but she would consider facilitating small groups on request. Her style of supervision is Integrative and Relational with a psychodynamic flavour. She is mindful of intersectionality, including gender, race, ethnicity, sexuality, class, age, religion, and other dimensions that contextualise therapeutic work.
Dr Scollard has been working as a mental health practitioner for over 20 years. She works in an integrative, relational way, drawing on psychodynamic, neuroscience-based attachment theories, CBT, and existential ideas. What works for some may not always work for another client, and it is important to find the best fit for each person’s individual mental well-being.
Services are available in both English and Polish, ensuring that language is not a barrier to your mental well-being.
Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.
