As a systemic psychotherapist, I work with individuals, couples, and families to help them gain a deeper understanding of their emotions, relationships, and life experiences, with the aim of supporting meaningful and sustainable change. Together, we explore the difficulties you may be facing while also recognising the strengths, resilience, and resources you already possess. Alongside reflective therapeutic conversations, I also provide practical support to help you move towards the changes you would like to see in your life.
I adapt my therapeutic approach to meet the unique needs of each individual, child, couple, or family I support, drawing from a range of therapeutic approaches. I believe that each person is the expert on their own life, and my role is to offer a compassionate, and supportive environment where you can openly explore what is important to you. Through working collaboratively, we can begin to understand challenges within the wider context of your relationships, personal history, and current circumstances.
An important aspect of my work involves exploring how early relationships and formative experiences influence the way we relate to ourselves and others in the present. I believe that a genuine therapeutic relationship — where you feel listened to, understood, and valued — can create the conditions for healing, personal growth, and new ways of experiencing relationships.
My practice is informed by an appreciation of culture, identity, and diversity and I aim to create a therapeutic space where every aspect of your identity feels acknowledged, respected, and welcome. I can support individuals navigating issues related to identity, belonging, and the impact of intergenerational experiences.
If you are considering therapy with me, I offer a complimentary telephone consultation for us to discuss how I may be able to support you. This also gives you a chance to get a sense of me and my approach before deciding whether to begin therapy together.
I’m Helen Wczasek, a Systemic and Family Psychotherapist working with couples and families from a range of backgrounds and needs.
I have worked within a range of settings supporting children, young people, couples and families including child and adolescent mental health services, community services, and specialist mental health teams. My experience includes working with trauma, neurodivergence, complex emotional needs, eating disorders and psychotic spectrum conditions. In addition to my private practice, I currently run a family and relationship support service in for adults managing these issues within the NHS.
I can offer support with a range of emotional and relational needs in order to help couples and families make meaningful change within their lives. I offer a warm, and collaborative environment where you can explore yourself and your relationships in a way that feels supportive and empowering.
Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.
