My Approach

I offer a warm, caring, non-judgemental, confidential space in which you can talk about the issues that are affecting you. Because it is important to find the right therapist for you, I offer a first free meeting to see whether I am the right therapist for you.

About Me

I am a Core Process Psychotherapist with an MA in Mindfulness Based Psychotherapeutic Practice. I work in Helensburgh, Scotland, and online.

Special Interests

Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.

As I age and watch family and friends around me age and die, I realise the importance of embracing everything this time offers. This includes moving into relationship with the many challenges that this time brings, but it also gives us the opportunity to put our lives in perspective and actively engage with the meaning and mystery of life.  I work with people individually but also have a diploma in Contemplative Group Work and facilitate groups  exploring aging and spirituality.
Pre and Perinatal Psychotherapy – I have come on a long journey from being a Consultant Paediatrician, whose work included being present at births and treating newborn babies in the NHS, often in high tech, intensive environments, to being a psychotherapist, exploring the delicate and intimate relationship between mother and baby that is present from the earliest days in the womb. This experience gives me the ability to understand both sides.  I am a certified APPPAH Pre and Perinatal Educator and a Foundation for Infant Loss Accredited Practitioner.
Spirituality is about meaning and mystery in our lives, whatever words or tradition you use to describe that. I can help you if you are seeking to explore these aspects of what it means to be human or deepen your relationship with the sacred. I also help people with experience of non-ordinary states and those struggling to make sense of unusual spiritual experiences, including in the Spiritual Crisis Network.  I have a Christian/Buddhist background but experience of other spiritual traditions. I am an Ignatian spiritual director, have a longstanding Buddhist practice predominantly in the Tibetan Kagyu lineage and have a BA (Hons) in Humanities and Religious Studies (1st class).
