My Approach

Too often people reach crisis point before considering their mental health. I believe that making room regularly for mental health is essential for every body and every mind, supporting the navigation of a world and relationships which are often challenging and complex.
I hope to provide a space to acknowledge and work through your challenges, whatever they may be, to improve clarity, develop understanding, help reduce symptoms and support personal growth and change. I aim to support everyday health and living, including dealing with stress, anxiety, depression, grief and trauma, chronic illness, adjustment to major life changes and transitions, or management of relationships.
I am able to bring a wide range of approaches to my work to meet the differing needs of individual clients. Models include humanistic, person-centred, Gestalt, psychodynamic, relational, existential, attachment and self-psychology. I am able to offer working with imagery, metaphor, dreams and arts activities to support expression and aid understanding.

About Me

Hello. I am an Integrative Psychotherapist (UKCP accred. MBACP, MSc.) and founder of ROOM Psychotherapy, providing 1:1 psychotherapy online anywhere in the UK, and in person in Kenilworth, Warwickshire.
I am registered and accredited with the UKCP, and a BACP registered member having trained at Warwick University in a Holistic Phenomenological Integrative (HPI) approach.
Specialist interests include parental mental health, work-related stress and life-transitions. I have published research (EJQRP 2025) on matrescence (becoming a mother) and created Project Matrescence (www.projectmatrescence.org) a therapeutic group programme to support new mothers.
Before becoming a Psychotherapist I studied Art History (BA Hons) and spent almost 20yrs in public relations and brand communications, working at Board level. This experience provides an understanding of corporate environments and professional pressures and an active, curious, collaborative and creative approach to my client work.

Special Interests

Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.

As long as we are living we will continue to adapt to what life brings us. This may be leaving home for the first time as a young adult, or having your young adult leave home; it might mean working out what you might have an active choice in (i.e. career / relationships / children) or that which you don't (bereavement, infertility, menopause, impotence, illness) ; it might mean caring for children, partners or parents; it might mean coming to terms with physical or cognitive changes or retirement. Each age and stage can bring self-development and growth, grief and loss. I would hope to provide a space to support the consideration of where you are now, where you have been and where you hope to be, and processing the feelings around those experiences.
I provided 1-1 counselling for participants on the Government's Restart Scheme which aimed to support individuals who have been long term unemployed. Employment difficulties are often linked with, or a symptom of, other difficulties or challenges including living with chronic illness, anxiety, depression, neurodivergence, CPTSD, PTSD, ACEs, parenthood, care responsibilities and discrimination. Employment difficulties don't just have economic implications but also effect our identity as it can define who we are in the world, how we see ourselves and how others see us. Difficulties in this area might also represent a need for change and an opportunity for growth and self-development.
Becoming a mother (matrescence) or a father (patrescence) is a unique time of change in a person’s life. A time when you may experience transformation in some, or all aspects of your self; physical, social, economic, psychological and spiritual. This life transition can impact how we feel about ourselves, and the people, and world around us. Very little currently acknowledges or supports this major life process. I recently published research on the subject of matrescence in the EJQRP (vol 15, 2025) and established Project Matrescence (www.projectmatrescence.org) a six-week psychotherapist-led circle supporting mothers navigate their transition to and through early motherhood. I work with parents 1-1 to explore and support their emotional and unique experience of this major life transition.
