Systemic psychotherapy engages with the complexity of the connections between people. As such I am interested in all forms of relationships — couples, siblings, families, friends, and people in polyamorous or non-traditional relationships. You might come to therapy because your relationship feels stuck or distant, conflict has become hard to navigate, or you are holding different perspectives that are hard to resolve.
For some people, therapy focuses on a particular issue that can be explored over a few sessions. For others, it’s a longer process of reflection and change. I’m interested in creating a context where clients feel listened to and, in turn, are able to listen to one another — to hear in new ways and create new understandings.
Overall my approach is one of encouraging dialogue, listening carefully and allowing others to listen carefully. I am particularly interested in narrative therapy approaches as well as approaches that focus on the nuance of communication patterns and understand people in the context of their lives, taking into account experience of oppression and discrimination.
I am a fully qualified Systemic and Family Psychotherapist specialising in couples and relationships. I welcome all people and all forms of relationships, be they romantic, platonic, familial, or however you would like to describe them.
I practice out of the beautiful Practice Rooms in Broomhall in Sheffield. Appointments are Mondays 9am - 2.30pm and Wednesday evenings.
If you'd like to get in touch, please contact me for a brief conversation to see if this approach is right for you before we start. I look forward to hearing from you.
Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.
