eople say I am a good listener, both for shorter and longer periods of time. Therapy is a kind of journey, so I treat it as an adventure. I find this approach can be helpful to navigate the most difficult problems. Yes, there can be tears, but there is also much laughter and humour to get us through.
Whether the matters you bring are depression, anxiety, relationship problem, bereavement, caring for loved one, or the need to change job, there is always a way through to new beginnings.
Much of what I do starts in conversation. You will see I have a number of tools and modalities that we can use as well. Whatever I draw upon depends on what comes up in the therapy and your preferences. I have trained in a number of methods that use creativity, roleplay, imagination and dreams.
I offer a brief phone call (max 15 minutes) for free to discuss any initial questions before doing a session where we meet. That first full session will be for the agreed fee. At the end of that we will discuss how we want to continue. I look forward to hearing from you
I hold a post-graduate diploma in Integrative and Transpersonal Counselling and have been in private practice since 2015. In my training, In my training I did a placement at the Maudsley psychiatric hospital. I am interested in both creative methods and mental illness.
Having trained in the Transpersonal tradition, I work in a number of ways, trying to speak in whatever language my clients prefer, be it clinical, scientific, poetic or just simple everyday language.
My training is integrative, and I have a lot of experience dealing with anxiety, depression, emotional matters, lack of confidence and burn out. People say I have a good earthly presence which is sympathetic and non-judgmental and they find reassuring. I am also a practitioner of the visualization technique Imagework and will use this and Gestalt tools when appropriate. I do also work with early life issues as they are often an essential basis from which most therapy develops.
My basic tool, however remains listening and conversation through the therapeutic journey which is always fascinating and beautiful. There is a lot of laughter on the way even if inevitably there are also, equally inevitably some tears. In the end the journey is worthwhile and I am inspired when I see my clients become themselves,
Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.
