Thank you for coming for therapy. It can be helpful to explain what therapy is about at the onset so that you get the most benefit from it. I have been working as a Counsellor since 1999 and as an accredited Counsellor/Psychotherapist since 2008 and accredited Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist since 2017. I am an Integrative therapist, meaning that I work using different modalities - Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Schema Therapy as well as a humanistic person-centred/relationship orientated approach. I work with current day to day issues and longer term issues.
Africa -from October 2001-July 2014, I lived abroad in East Africa. I spent 8 years in Uganda, working in a doctor’s surgery as a counsellor, seeing mainly expatriate clients and also Ugandan clients as well as doing some work for the ICC. I came to Kenya in 2009 and worked at Amani Counselling Centre as a part-time Trainer, Supervisor and Counsellor. I also ran a monthly CPD (Continuous Professional Development) group at KAPC (Kenya Association for Professional Counsellors) in Nairobi. Since 2015, I have been running 1-2 day CBT workshops online and face to face in Kenya and continue to run CBT workshops in Kenya. I ran a private practice in Kenya from 2012-2014.
UK -I set up my practice in UK in 2014, East Sussex Therapy. I worked in the NHS in primary and secondary care between 2017-2021 with clients presenting often with complex difficulties. I now work part-time as a CBT Psychotherapist for BUPA and also focus on my private practice and CBT research, based in Kenya. I have completed a doctoral programme at Metanoia Institution in London, from October 2019 to June 2026 . I have recently been awarded my doctorate, and the research has focused on adaptation of CBT in Kenya and taken place in Kenya.
Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.
