About Me

I'm a compassionate and skilled gestalt psychotherapist and relational supervisor. My starting point as a therapist is to offer you a quiet, reflective regular space in your week to explore what you’re finding challenging or distressing in your life. I’ll meet you with respect, hopefulness and kindness and a genuine commitment to support you to live a more fulfilled, satisfying, self-compassionate life.

Everyone brings their own unique struggles and experiences to therapy and I’m experienced working with diverse clients and a wide range of difficulties. I’ve a particular affinity working with clients who are experiencing:
• grief and loss
• anxiety
• low self-esteem, feelings of inadequacy, shame, self-hatred
• significant life transitions
• the impact of abuse, trauma and neglect

I’ll support you to deepen your awareness of yourself, your relationships and your situation through our conversations. We’ll do this holistically by exploring thoughts, emotions, physical experiences, spirituality and imagination. I’ll share my reflections, offer gentle questions to open up awareness, and invite you to experiment with different possibilities.

I strive to work within an anti-oppressive approach. I understand that unjust and discriminatory social and political contexts shape our distress and I believe this is often a vital part of the conversation in therapy. I have a deep interest in the ways in which gender shapes our experience and I often work with clients of all genders to unpack how societal norms and expectations contribute to their struggles.

I foster a patient approach to change. I recognise that, for most of us, making a change or adapting to change doesn't happen overnight and can bring up a lot of mixed feelings. That's why I don't promise transformation or quick fixes, nor do I push change. Sometimes, the most important change can be how we relate to ourselves, as we come to greater self-acceptance.

Supervision:
I’m also a qualified clinical relational supervisor for counsellors and psychotherapists. I love co-creating stimulating and supportive supervision relationships that encourage supervisees to reflect deeply on their work with clients, bring vulnerabilities and grow in their practice. I particularly enjoy supporting early career and newly qualified counsellors and therapists as they find their style, confidence and direction as counsellors and therapists. Qualifications and memberships:
I’m accredited with UKCP, registered with BACP and hold a Master’s degree in Psychotherapy from London Metropolitan University as well as an advanced practitioner diploma from the Gestalt Centre London in individual and group psychotherapy. I hold a post-graduate diploma in psychotherapy supervision from Relational Change. I am a full clinical member of the Gestalt Psychotherapy Training Institute; an associate member of the New York Institute for Gestalt Therapy; and a member of the United Kingdom Association of Gestalt Practitioners.

How I work:
• I more commonly offer long-term, open-ended psychotherapy and I do also work in a more time-limited way, usually a course of a minimum of 12 sessions.
• I work predominantly in person and have a small number of spaces for online/hybrid clients.
• I work with adults aged 18 and over.
• Psychotherapy sessions take place weekly.
• Supervision frequency will be discussed when we first meet.
• I see clients and supervisees from Mondays to Thursdays inclusive.
• All my sessions take place during working hours. I'm not available to see clients in the evening.
• My fee is £80 for therapy and for supervision.

I'm based at the following practices:
Rooms for Therapists, 2 Lion Yard, Tremadoc Road, Clapham, London, SW4 7NQ on Tuesdays
Pimlico Counsellors and Psychotherapists, 6a Bessborough Place, London, SW1V 3SG on Wednesdays and Thursdays

My background:
Alongside my private practice, I was employed for several years as a senior counsellor in a hospice. Previously I managed a project for Cruse Bereavement Care offering peer support to people bereaved through a loved one’s drug or alcohol use. Before training as a therapist, I was a communications professional working in central government and the charity sector.

I'm passionate about the power of literature and writing to support our understanding of ourselves and the world. I'm in the process of setting up a therapeutic book group for women.

My core training is as a gestalt psychotherapist. I also draw on attachment, intersectional feminist therapy, and existential ideas.

I facilitate staff reflection groups in the funeral sector.
