Psychoanalysis - but we hopefully find an approach together that works for us.
I have been working with people experiencing acute distress since the 1980s. My clinical work has included LGBTQIA+ concerns, anxiety and depression, addiction, war trauma and torture, sex work, mental health difficulties, death and dying and couples. Before joining academia, I managed a therapy service for people experiencing homelessness and was involved in a range of activist and community-based projects.
My training and academic background includes psychoanalysis, gender and women’s studies, crisis therapy, reflective practice, supervision, group work, social work, psychology, and anthropology. I have supervised trainee therapists for many years.
I currently serve on the Training Committee of the Association for Group and Individual Psychotherapy (AGIP), where I also teach. I additionally teach at the Site for Contemporary Psychoanalysis and lecture on the MA in Psychodynamic Counselling and Psychotherapy at Goldsmiths, University of London.
Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.
