I offer short and long term counselling and psychotherapy to individuals, couples and groups. I work in private practice and I see clients during the day and in the evenings. I have over 16 years of experience in helping people to address and resolve their problems.
I often see people who tell me that they've never really sought any help or support before. I think as therapists we can forget just how big a step it can seem to look up a therapist on a website and arrange an appointment.
The truth is though that we all face problems and challenges in life, sometimes we can work things out ourselves, and sometimes those close to us can help. But at other times those closest to us are too emotionally involved, or don't have the skills or ability to be able to help. In those situations, I may be able to offer you the support you need. We can work together to reduce the impact of difficult symptoms, or we can work together for longer to resolve issues at a deeper level.
I believe that it is important that we agree together what we work on, this gives us a joint responsibility for the work. I also avoid using jargon to help you to feel comfortable.
I have an MA in Transactional Analysis Psychotherapy (distinction) and I am Certified Transactional Analyst. In 2015/16 I spent a year studying at the Cambridge Centre for Body Psychotherapy, and I am now enrolled on a Professional Doctorate programme. I am registered with the UKCP and I am also a member of UKATA. Membership and registration with these regulatory bodies means that I am trained to a high standard, and subscribe to codes of ethics and good practice. I am also a registered BUPA healthcare provider.
