I work integratively - tailoring sessions to what best serves your individual needs.
My core training is rooted in Psychodynamic Therapy — which means I’m interested in your unconscious processes and beliefs, with a focus on the past, and often early experiences. The idea is that these have shaped how you think, feel, and relate to yourself and others today - and this understanding helps us to work through difficult emotions, unresolved conflicts, and patterns of behaviour that may be holding you back.
At the same time, I draw on more behavioural based ways of working such as CBT where we will take a more active look at the link between your thoughts/beliefs - feelings/emotions and the resulting problematic behaviours. We might think about cognitive restructuring (catching and examining automatic anxious thoughts), behavioural experiments, or worry exposure (often used for OCD).
I believe a combination of these approaches, and the flexibility to use both modalities, is the most effective in relieving suffering and helping to create a life with greater emotional well-being, resilience, healthier relationships and a more secure sense of self.
